In the same way that release coatings offer engineers greater flexibility, combination coatings are equally valuable. For example - paper lead rolls, gripper rolls and drive rolls have been traditionally manufactured from chrome plated carbon or stainless steel. These can now be made from low inertia carbon fibre in combination with wear resistant, thermally sprayed traction release coatings.
